Just as communication is important when it comes to relationships, communication is also incredibly important when it comes to ministry. As mentioned previously three areas of communication are interpersonal, public, and organization. Communication excellence in each of these three veins will be an immense asset to any ministry or church.
Good interpersonal communication helps ministers to build deeper and stronger relationships with the flock and the wider community. Ministers who seek to follow Jesus' example should pay special attention to their interpersonal relationships. This is certainly an area that Jesus spent a great deal of time in during his earthly ministry. A minister might be an amazing public communicator and they may be strong organizationally, but if they are not committed to building genuine relationships with people, their ministry will have very little lasting impact.
That being said, it is also important to be a strong public communicator. The benefit of being strong in this area is that it enables you to communicate the Gospel clearly and effectively. As ministers we are entrusted with the weighty task of teaching others the truth found in scripture and we must make sure that we are skilled in the area of public communication.
Lastly, strong organizational communication is beneficial to ministry. When a ministry is able to clearly share the mission and vision of their church with the congregation and the wider community, it allows people to know what is going on and to get involved. It is important that organizational communication is professional, up to date, and accurate.
